You can easily view a patient's My Health Record (MHR) by connecting to the HIPS (Health Identifier and PCEHR System) portal directly through Gentu.
Before you begin
You must have completed the registration and activation steps to have My Health Record communicating with Gentu. If you have not done this, navigate to our Getting started with My Health Record article to set up your practice.
My Health Record access is only available for patients with an IHI (Individual Healthcare Identifier). If your patient does not have this in their patient details, you will not be able to access MHR for this patient.
Accessing a patient's My Health Record
Within a patient's file, click on the button at the top of the browser. Once Gentu has validated that the patient does indeed have a valid IHI, it will open an additional tab in your web browser.
This will connect you to the patient's My Health Record through the HIPS portal, where you will see a Health Record Overview of the patient as below.
If the patient has restricted access to their My Health Record, you will be presented with the following page and will need to obtain an access code from the patient. Alternatively, you can request emergency access to the patient's MHR if clinically necessary.
Viewing documents in a patient's My Health Record
To view any of the documents within the patient's MHR, click on the View Document icon on the right of the document.
Within the page that loads, click on the Attached Content hyperlink to view the document.
