Error: Referring Provider Number must not be the same as the Servicing Provider Number |
When does this error appear?
This error will appear if the referring provider and the servicing provider are the same person, or the referrer and servicing provider have the same provider number entered.
What does this error mean?
Medicare are not able to accept claims where the referring provider and the servicing provider are the same person.
How do I resolve this error?
To resolve this error, review the referring provider selected on the invoice and if this is the same person as the servicing provider, you will need to change the referring provider to another referrer, or select an appropriate referral override if there is no referring provider required e.g. In Hospital, Emergency etc.
Please note: if your invoice contains any self deemed diagnostic items, you will not be able to use a referral override in this situation as Medicare are not able to accept self deemed items with a referral override on the same invoice.
