Gentu has a reminder system in the form of To Do tasks. To Do tasks can be practice-wide, or assigned to a specific user. They can be general tasks, or relevant to a specific patient.

You can view To Do tasks on the My Day page, under the To Do panel. You can also view the To Do list for a specific patient by select the To Do tab in their record.
In this window, you can view your tasks, practice tasks, the tasks you have sent to other users, and the tasks marked as done.
If the To Do was created from a letter or result, you can click on the file name in the task to view the file.
Your comments will appear on the right-hand side in teal, and any comments by other users will appear on the left in grey.
You can add comments to an ongoing task by typing into the comment box and pressing COMMENT. Comments can be used as a reply to the To Do, or as a note on the progress of the To Do.
If you Comment on To Do, the sender will receive a notification if this is enabled. For more information, please see the Notifications & Alerts page.
There are two statuses that might be set against a To Do: Overdue or Urgent.
Overdue |
To Do tasks with a due date assigned will be marked as Overdue if they are still active past their due date. |

Urgent |
To Do tasks which are marked as urgent will show the Urgent notification. |

You can add general To Do tasks from the My Day page.
General To Do tasks are not specific to a particular patient.
- Navigate to My Day
- Select the To Do panel
- Select ADD in the top right hand corner.
- The New To Do window will open.
- Select an Assignee from the drop down menu.
- Type into the field to search for an assignee.
- Multiple assignees can be selected.
- The To Do can also be assigned as a Practice Task, making it visible for all users.
- Enter a title for the To Do.
- Optionally you can enter a due date and/or note to further expand on the requirements of the task.
- You may also optionally mark the task as urgent by ticking Mark as Urgent.
- Press SEND to save the To Do task.
Patient-specific To Do tasks can be added from within a patient's file or from their appointment in the Appointment Book.
As the name implies, this kind of To Do task is specific to one patient in your Gentu database.
- Open the patient's record or appointment.
- Select ADD > To Do.
- The New To Do window will open.
- Fill in the details as prompted (see the General To Do task section above for more information).
- Press SEND to save the task.
A To Do can also be created in relation to a Result or Letter. There are created within Results / Letters, and allow the recipient can open the result or letter directly from the To Do in My Day.
- Select a Diagnostic Report or Incoming Correspondence item.
- Select the ADD TO DO button.
- The New To Do window will open.
- Fill in the details as prompted (see the General To Do task section above for more information).
- Press SEND to save the task.
The To Do will also be visible on the result or letter for any user to view.
To complete a To Do task:
- Highlight the To Do task on the left.
- Click the MARK AS DONE button.
- The To Do task will immediately move to the Done tab.
You can also mark a To Do as done by selecting the menu against to To Do and choosing Mark as Done.
In the Done tab, the completed date will be specified on the list of To Do tasks, and can also be found in the audit at the bottom of the task once opened.
If you have mistakenly marked a To Do task as done before it is completed, you can unmark it as done.
- Open the Done tab
- Find and select the To Do task.
- Click MARK AS NOT DONE button from the top right of the page.
- The To Do will immediately move back to the relevant tab (My Tasks, Practice Tasks or Sent).
You can also mark as To Do as not done by selecting the menu against the To Do and choosing Mark as Not Done.
When the To Do moves back to the correct tab, the details regarding the completion will be erased, however the Updated On... details will provide a timestamp of the latest action.
Note that editing a To Do task will update the body of the original task.
If you wish to instead record or track the progress of an ongoing task, you should instead add a Comment to the task by typing into the text box and pressing COMMENT.
If you want to update the original task, or its other details such as its due date, assignee, or title:
- Click the menu
button against the To Do.
- Select Edit.
- The To Do window will open.
- Amend the details as needed.
- Press UPDATE to save the changes.
When a To Do task is edited, its changes will be tracked in the audit information at the bottom of the pane.
To delete a To Do task:
- Click the menu
button against the To Do.
- Select Delete.
Please note that the task will be immediately deleted and cannot be restored.
