Restrict Records allows you to set individual clinical items in a patient record as locked to only allow access for the user that locked the record.
You may wish to restrict sensitive patient information so only certain people can view the record.
Once a record is locked, anyone who doesn't have access will see the following image.
Note: Any clinical records that have been restricted will not print out with the complete record. If you wish to print restricted records, you will need to unrestrict the record first.
How to Restrict a Patient Record
Provided that you have the appropriate permissions to do so, you can restrict individual files in a patient record.
- Navigate to the Patient you wish to restrict the records on.
- Select the Clinical tab.
- Click on the vertical ellipses
for any record in the clinical tab.
- Select Restrict.
- The record will now display a lock
symbol.
- Only the user that locked the record and Administrators will be able to view and access the locked record.
The Administrator user role has access to all areas of Gentu by default.
The Administrator will have access to all locked clinical records as well as the ability to unlock any locked records. This includes records locked by other users.
Please note it is not possible to disable permissions for a user in the Administrator user role. If you wish to restrict this user's permissions, you should instead change them to a different user role.
> Why can't I lock a Patient Record?
You may not yet have the appropriate permissions to do so, speak to your Administrator to have the 'Data Privacy - Restrict Records' option activated for your role.
> I cannot see the Manage Roles link. How do I change role permissions?
If you cannot see the Manage Roles link in Settings, it means you do not have permission to access this area of the app. Please speak to your Administrator so they can make the appropriate changes.
