Occasionally, you might find there is an issue with an electronic diagnostic result that has been sent to you by a laboratory. Problems might include the following:
- Patient's name or other details are missing
- The file is incomplete:
- There are unusual characters in the file which may be interrupting the text:
- The file formatting is messy and makes the file hard to read
- The text in the file continues horizontally off the side of the preview area, and you have to scroll across to read it:
If there is a formatting issue, extraneous text, missing text, special characters, or missing details in a result file you have received, it may be because there was an error or glitch when the file was generated.
If the file has text which continues horizontally off the screen, it is usually because of the file extension (or file format). Some laboratories will send a plain text file with no formatting whatsoever, and this includes text wrapping.
If the problem is that the text scrolls horizontally off the screen, you can toggle the Wrap Text option at the bottom of the file, and Gentu will wrap the text to improve its readability.
The Wrap Text option is currently only available when viewing the result in the patient's Clinical tab, after it has been linked.
If you cannot easily read a file due to its formatting, check the very bottom of the result file. You may see more than one tab here, for instance, "Report", "HTML", "Text", "PDF", "RTF".
Some result files are sent through containing multiple segments. You can select which segment to view by selecting it.
Certain types of formatting may make the file more legible.
However please note that the information in the result file may be fragmented across each segment, so it is still recommended that you check each segment (if available) to ensure nothing is missed.
If you can see an "RTF" file segment, you may also see a link within the file prompting you to download the report to view it externally. If this option is available, we recommend using it.
If you are still having issues, please contact Gentu Support.
