Gentu has the ability to display and link diagnostic results to patient clinical files. Both linked and unlinked diagnostic reports can be found within the Results/Letters tab, under the Diagnostic Reports heading.
When you first open the Results/Letters tab, you will be taken directly into the unlinked Diagnostic Reports view, where you will see the name of the patient, the date of collection, the addressee doctor for the report, the test that was performed, and the result of the test:
When you have a test highlighted, the details of the test result are displayed in the bottom half of the window:
Linking Diagnostic Reports
For a diagnostic report to be viewable in a patient’s clinical file, you need to link the report to the patient.
If Gentu is able to find a patient within your database who matches the name and date of birth that is found within the file, then the patient name and date of birth will be shown in green above the result:
If you can confirm that this is correct, then you can click onto the Link button on the right-hand side of the window:
Once linked, the result file will then appear within the patient’s clinical file, under the Diagnostic Reports filter:
If you receive a result file for a patient who does not directly match a patient within your database, then the non-matching details will be shown in red:
You will see in the example above, the date of birth and Medicare number recorded in Gentu for this patient do not match what was found within the report.
To resolve this, you would need to click the little downward facing arrow icon to search for another patient in your database, if you do not believe this to be the correct patient:
Clicking on the correct patient or hitting Enter on your keyboard will link the report to the patient. When this happens, you will receive a prompt to confirm that the linking process was successful:
The result file will then appear within the patient’s clinical file, under the Diagnostic Reports filter:
If you need to create a To Do based on the results contained within the report, then you can do so by using the Action text field to the right of the Diagnostic Report:
Once you have linked the result to the patient, a To Do will be created, containing the action that you provided in the action text field:
If you click onto the exclamation point icon beside the action text field, you can flag a result as urgent. This will turn the exclamation icon pink:
Once a result marked as urgent has been linked, Gentu will automatically create a To Do using the text that was entered into the Action field, and it will be flagged as urgent:
Why can't I view/link Diagnostic Reports, but my colleague can?
Your user may not have the ability to access or edit these files due to the way that User Roles have been configured in your Gentu practice. For more information, see the User Permissions section of this article.
I imported a result/report but certain information is missing (patient name, collection date, test names). How can I fix this to see the information I need?
When you view imported pathology/radiology result files; Gentu is displaying the contents of the file exactly "as is". If the laboratory who generated the result file has omitted certain details from the document, like the patient's DOB, or the collection date, unfortunately there is no way for Gentu to call up and display that information - the information is simply not there for Gentu to display.
If you did wish for that information to be available when you view the result file, it may be worth contacting the sending laboratory to see if they can arrange for this information to be included, and the result file re-sent to you.
